Post production
The term post production means that some adjustments are still needed to be made on a roughly done product. These adjustments give the product a finishing touch. It is almost not possible to shoot a particular situation to its perfection. This is where the post production comes into place. Post production is a set of multiple tasks. Here are some of them:
Color correction |
| |
Sometimes colors in certain shots are not like we expected, so we have to use color correction function. We can adjust or change colors in the whole shot or we can change them on any element within the shot. For example if you do not like the red color of a car, we can simply change it into blue.
For example all the time we can see this in the movies, where colors are always more lively in comedies than in horror films, where colors have a lot more contrast, are darker and less natural.

Adding animated elements
| |
Some things, fairytale characters or talking objects are often easier to draw or animate than shoot with a camera. These graphical elements, which are usually added to the footage, enable us to get the finished product. The more effort we put into the making of a particular video/spot/clip, the more real it becomes. Even though motion graphics is far from being simple, we can achieve what we are asked for and much more with highly developed technology and the knowledge we possess. |
Erasing elements
| |
When we are dealing with editing of a certain video, we sometimes notice a little fault which is very disturbing and can even ruin the whole flow of the video. To erase simple elements is in general an easy job to do, for example if you want to get rid of a fly. But there are some exceptions which present a harder task; an example of that is erasing a person while running. |
Replacement of elements
| |
When you see a video of a bus with an inscription, that can be completely replaced with something else with the help of an experienced expert. It takes a lot of technical knowledge, a sense of aesthetics and precision, that replacement looks real. |
We hope these few steps in the post production process will help you understand it a little bit better.
